Το δρώμενο «Inconnu» μεταφέρει την αφήγηση μιας νεαρής γυναίκας που ζει κάπου απροσδιόριστα στο νησί της Σερίφου. Ο τόπος αυτός μοιάζει με μια δυαδικότητα ενός τόπου γεμάτου δυνατότητες και ενός άλλου που είναι κενός, που συνδέονται με τη σχέση της διαρκούς ανεστραμμένης ταυτότητας. Kάποια στιγμή θα πεί «Δεν είμαι εκεί που νομίζεις ότι είμαι, είμαι εκεί που νομίζεις ότι δεν είμαι». Και καθώς το νόημα μιας κατάστασης, εντοπίζεται σε αυτό που οι άνθρωποι αποδίδουν στον εαυτό τους και στους άλλους, μέσα στο χρονικό διάστημα που αποκαλούμε “παρόν”, η παρούσα κατάσταση επικεντρώνεται γύρω από την έννοια της φυγής.

Το εικονογραφικό λεξιλόγιο της αφήγησής της και το μοντάζ της σύνταξής της, τοποθετούν τον λόγο της στο επίπεδο της μετωνυμίας εικόνων. Ωστόσο, η αφήγηση χαρακτηρίζεται από παύσεις, δίνοντας κατάλοιπα σε κάθε είδους απουσίες (αναμνήσεις, μαθήματα, προσδοκίες). Οι φράσεις της, γίνονται το περίγραμμα μιας αιωρούμενης απόφασης: ενώ σε κάθε παύση της μοιάζει να αποχωρεί –λες και η επιθυμία της εκπληρώνεται- πάντα επανέρχεται.

The performance “Inconnu” conveys the narrative of a young woman who lives in an unspecified place on the Island of Serifos. This territory resembles a duality of a place full of potential and another which is void, linked through an inverted identity. At some point in her narrative she will say “I am not where you think I am, I am where you think I am not”, focusing on the permanent rotation around the desire of escapism and the significance that people attach to themselves and to others, in the short period called "present".

The pictorial vocabulary of her narration and the montage of its syntax, set the language as a metonymy for an image. However, the narrative is characterized by pauses, giving residue to all kind of absences (memories, lessons, expectations). Her phrases, at the level of the verbal chain they create, also repeatedly formulate the notion of a pending decision: even when she seems to depart -as a grand resolve of her desire- she constantly returns back.

Dr. GM Touliatou was born in Athens, Greece. She studied fine arts at Greece (BA) and UK (MA & PhD). Her work, explores protective narratives and the tactics which supports their social fabrication in public sphere. Her work has been presented at EU, RUS, KOREA, JAPAN and US.

Maria Saluvardou is an interdisciplinary artist from Athens who works and lives in Berlin. She combines costume design and scenography with performing arts and sculpture. She works with fiber and texture, speech and sound, and movement.
