Kotoki Art Space Είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να ανακοινώσουμε πως προσκεκλημένος και φιλοξενούμενος του Kotoki Art Space είναι ο καταξιωμένος πιανίστας Νικόλαος Λαάρης

Ο Νικόλαος Λαάρης σπούδασε πιάνο στο Royal College of Music και είναι διδάκτορας του Manhattan School of Music, όπου δίδαξε επί σειρά ετών. 

Έχει εμφανισθεί στο Λονδίνο: South Bank Centre, Μόναχο: Gärtnerplatz Τheater, Νέα Υόρκη: Carnegie Hall, και λάβει κριτικές όπως “ένας εξαιρετικός καλλιτέχνης, που δεν μπορεί να παράγει ούτε έναν άσχημο ήχο” (Stephen Pettit, Times). 

Όντας λάτρης κάθε μορφής τέχνης, έχει συνεργαστεί με το Θεατρικό Μπαλέτο του Μονάχου στις Παραλλαγές Goldberg του Bach (χορογραφία Philip Taylor), τον Γιώργο Χερουβείμ στο 

Shards: Σπουδές για Πιάνο, του Philip Glass (NOSTOS Festival), τον φωτογράφο Γιάννη Μπεχράκη στα Eπτά Τελευταία Λόγια του Haydn, και στο θεατρικό έργο 33 Παραλλαγές του Moises Kaufman, βασισμένο στις “Παραλλαγές Diabelli” του Beethoven (Mέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών). 

Την περίοδο αυτή προετοιμάζει τον νέο κύκλο για πιάνο του δις υποψηφίου για GRAMMY George Tsontakis, με χορηγία του Ιδρύματος Καρέλια.

 Έχει σπουδάσει διεύθυνση ορχήστρας στο Conservatorium van Amsterdam, και έχει διευθύνει όπερα: Glass: Στη Σοφρωνιστική Αποικία (Στέγη Ιδρύματος Ωνάση), Tsontakis: Ο Αέρας της Ελλάδας (Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή), και μιούζικαλ: Bernstein: West Side Story, Porter: Kiss me Kate, Andrew Lloyd-Webber: Tο Φάντασμα της Όπερας. Σε συνεργασία με το Μουσικό Εργαστήρι της Σερίφου (μια πρωτοβουλια του συνδεσμου “οι φίλοι του ελληνικού νησιού και της θάλασσας” ) και υποστηρικτή το Δήμο Σερίφου ο Νικόλαος Λαάρης θα παρουσιάσει αποσπάσματα από το έργο που προετοιμάζει αυτό το διάστημα: τον νέο κύκλο για σόλο πιάνο του πολυβραβευμένου, και δις υποψηφίου για βραβείο GRAMMY ελληνοαμερικανού συνθέτη George Tsontakis. 

Το νέο αυτό έργο, η παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα και ηχογράφηση του οποίου θα πραγματοποιηθεί τον Ιανουάριο του 2024 στο Μέγαρο Μουσικής Αθηνών, και ακολούθως θα παρουσιαστεί ανά τον κόσμο, χορηγείται γενναιόδωρα από το Ίδρυμα Καρέλια.

Το Kotoki Art Space είναι μια πρωτοβουλία καλλιτεχνών για την προώθηση της καλλιτεχνικής ενασχόλησης μέσα στις συγκεκριμένες συνθήκες της Σερίφου και στο πλαίσιο των Δυτικών Κυκλάδων. 

Το Kotoki Art Space οραματίζεται να λειτουργήσει ως κόμβος έργων για καλλιτέχνες, ενώ ενθαρρύνει την αυτοσχέδια έρευνα και πειραματισμό μέσω της διασύνδεσης των διαφόρων κόμβων και δικτύων πολιτιστικού ενδιαφέροντος σε όλο το νη

 He studied piano at the Royal College of Music, and holds a Doctorate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he served as a professor. Singled out by Stephen Pettit of the Times as “a fine artist, incapable of making an ugly sound”, he has performed in London: South Bank Centre, Munich: Gärtnerplatz Τheater, ΝYC: Carnegie Hall. Being an ardent lover of all forms of art, he has worked with the Munich Ballet Theater in Bach’s Goldberg Variationen (choreographer: Philip Taylor), animator George Cherouvim in Shards: Philip Glass Etudes for Piano, Book I (NOSTOS Festival), late photographer Yiannis Behrakis in Haydn’s Seven Last Words, and in the theatrical play 33 Variations of Moises Kaufman based on Beethoven’s “Diabelli Variations” (Athens Concert Hall). He now works on his new commission of a piano cycle of the twice GRAMMY-nominated composer George Tsontakis, sponsored by the Karelia Foundation. He got his conducting degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and has conducted opera: Glass’ In the Penal Colony (Onassis Cultural Center), Tsontakis’ The Air of Greece (Greek National Opera) and musical: Bernstein’s West Side Story, Porter’s Kiss me Kate, Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Phantom of the Opera.

 In collaboration with the Music Workshop of Serifos (“the friends of the greek island and the sea”) and supported by the Municipality of Serifos, Nikolaos Laaris will present excerpts from the new piano-solo cycle of the multiple award-winning and twice GRAMMY-nominated Greek-American composer George Tsontakis. This new work, planned to be premiered and recorded at the Athens Concert Hall in January 2024, and then presented in various international venues, is generously sponsored by the Karelia Foundation.
