Αυτό αναφέρει ο Βέλγος ζωγράφος και συγγραφέας Christian Brechneff,, που αυτό τον καιρό παρουσιάζει σε όλο τον κόσμο το βιβλίο του «The Greek House. The Story of a Painter’s Love Affair with the Island of Sifnos» το οποίο έγραψε με τη συνεργασία του Τιμ Λάβτζόι.
Η σχέση του Christian Brechneff, με τη Σίφνο πάει πίσω 30 χρόνια όταν έφτασε εκεί με το πλοίο. Αυτό ήταν. Ερωτεύτηκε το κυκλαδίτικο νησί και τους ανθρώπους του.
Εκεί δημιούργησε τα περισσότερα έργα του που έχουν εκτεθεί σε κορυφαίες γκαλερί της Ευρώπης και της Αμερικής. Η ιστορία που διηγείται στο βιβλίο είναι πολύ προσωπική. Εξιστορεί πώς ανακάλυψε στη Σίφνο τον ίδιο τον εαυτό του.
Είναι όμως και ταξίδι στην Σίφνο. Σε μια Σίφνο χωρίς τουρίστες, κινητά και… πλαστικά! Στη Σίφνο αγόρασε το δικό του σπίτι και άρχισε να ζει και σαν… ντόπιος. Πηγαίνοντας στα πανηγύρια, στους γάμους…
Αναφέρεται στους έρωτές του αλλά και στους ντόπιους που γνώρισε. Το βιβλίο έχει γλαφυρό, αφηγηματικό ύφος γιατί μιλά για μια Ελλάδα του χθες και του σήμερα μέσα από τα μάτια ενός φιλέλληνα.
