Serifos Beaches: Livadi Beach in Serifos 

 

Livadi Beach Serifos: The beach of Livadi is on the south-eastern side of Serifos, 4.5 km below 'Chora'.

 It is sandy and pebbly, and shares one side with other interesting beaches, like Avlomonas, right next to the harbour; Livadakia, also very close; the quiet Megalo Livadi; the well reputed Psili Ammos and Agios Sostis, at about 6 km east from Livadi.

 Livadi beach has trees that provide shade and is benefited by its closeness to the port of Livadi and concentrates the greatest number of facilities on Serifos. That is why Livadi is known as a tourist resort. In addition, it counts on some nightlife activity, due to its many bars, clubs and traditional taverns where to experience a typical Greek night.

 In daytime, these facilities are taken advantage by those who enjoy the beach, since they are very close. In fact, it is possible to have lunch at some of them, and enjoy the exquisite local cuisine and the view of the beach at the same time. In fact, the view of the Aegean Sea from Livadi beach is absolutely stunning. The most representative dishes that can be ordered are ‘loutza’ –sun baked pork, ‘revithada’ -baked chickpeas, ‘marathotiganites’ –fried fennel cakes, dried tomatoes, and locally produced cheeses.

Although this beach is possibly not the best for swimming, due to the high activity regarding the frequent anchors of the ferries –especially in summer- it is well organised and many visitors manage to practise water sports. On the other hand, the tourist development of this area usually attracts many tourists willing to enjoy its facilities. Apart from the mentioned ones, there are also many accommodation options.

 The closeness to Livadi is convenient in terms of transport as well, since it concentrates a good number of public buses providing easy access to many parts of the island, especially to Chora. Another possibility is to rent some of the available cars or scooters that this port offers. Taking all these into account, the reason why so many visitors choose Livadi as the centre of their activities becomes obvious.

The easy access that this location provides to other parts of the island also makes it very suitable as a base of operations; and in case of getting tired of the crowds that Livadi beach tends to concentrate, it is always possible to reach other destinations, like the mentioned Megalo Livadi and Agios Sostis.
