Serifos – Hora

So it was a compromise. We took the local bus up to the top of the hill – it is 580m up and then it is a walk up to the Kastro – or the church perched right on top.
It is amazing to walk along the paths and climb the stairs. These building are perched on the rocks and the consistency of colour , white, and the blue, contrasted with the sky and the stone paths is eye catching.

Then we walked down the cobblestone path back down to the beach.
It has been a busy morning on the quay with the fisherman coming in early. They have sent their catches off to the cool rooms and now they are cleaning their nets of weed.
Crayfish, prawns, octopus and all sorts of fish in their catch.

There are cafes and restaurants all along the front with chairs and tables on the beach. Nightclubs too but at this stage there doesn’t seem to be enough people to fill these places.
I did ask one cafe what time they would be open for breakfast – 12 o’clock! They finish at 4am.
So there is a whole other group on a completely different time frame it seems.
